Natasha Wright, a top student studying Law at Nottingham University, writes about her work experience at Christofi Law…
“…During my week at Christofi Law I was able to gain an insight into what a legal career is really like. Instead of the expected jobs of running errands and making tea I was able to experience the daily tasks that have to be carried out within a firm. One of these was legal costing, a task which allowed me to see the vast amount of time that is devoted to each individual client for a case.
I also had the chance to take my first look at a pre-nuptial agreement, an area which I am yet to study. I was able to see the structure and detail which needs to be included and was also given the opportunity to draft a pre-nuptial myself, a task which required me to extract relevant pieces of information from all that was given to me and make it clear for the client to understand without missing out any crucial information.
I also got to draft a retainer for some of the clients, varying the terms and detail for each individual one and again trying to ensure that the client would have a clear understanding after reading it. These tasks are ones which are neglected in the textbooks and so in doing them, it allowed me to experience what life in the legal profession is really like.
Not only that, but the welcoming and enthusiastic attitude of all at Christofi Law, especially Chris Christofi, allowed me to thoroughly enjoy coming to work, something that I hope I will be able to say when eventually I become a solicitor.”
